I have been looking for a 14K gold earring backs for pierced earrings for some time now and was go a d to see that Amazon had them. They are a bit bigger than the picture and the backs are bigger so you can get. a grip on them. They would be five stars if they were packaged better. You receive them in a little cellophane bag that would be hard to keep them in. I didn't want to keep them loose in my jewelry box so I had to get my own small clear zip lock plastic bag to keep them in. They did not fit all of my earrings...some needed a larger hole.

It's not that I "hate" these. It's just that I never rec'd them! Not a great way to operate a business. If a person pays for a product, they (in my case, I) expect to receive the product within a reasonable amount of time. Now I don't know what to do.

Revised: I finally DID receive these and was so disappointed that I might've returned them had it not been too much of a hassle. If you buy these, beware: In my experience with these (when they finally did arrive) was that the holes in the backings were too small for ALL of my earrings! So, in short, THEY WERE USELESS! I don't know how the size of the holes were calibrated, but unless you have earrings with posts the size of straight pines or small sewing needles, these will not fit! In fact, I had a pair of 18k gold earrings, that when I tried to get one of these backs on the post, the pressure I had to exert bent the post so badly I had to have a jeweler repair it. (Fortunately she is a friend and didn't charge me, but she asked to see the backs and had a good laugh when she saw the holes in them.)

BEWARE, and if you do buy these, be very careful when you try to use them, especially if the posts are gold of more than 14K (and I wouldn't even attempt that knowing what I know now) gold because they would be way too soft and thus bend like mine did.

Just go to a craft or jewelry-making shop and buy gold-filled or even "gold tone" earring backs (unless you get infected from anything other than gold) and save the possibility of damaging the posts on your good earrings. (No one really sees the backs, anyway.)

Other than that they were a perfect match for my earrings since my dog got ahold of their original backs. But if you're looking for anything long lasting I wouldn't exactly recommend them. I gave them three stars to be fair because im not sure if the blackening is on my part of the backs as nobody else has complained about it. But I think it's important to mention so nobody else will waste money, despite them being cheap, money is money.

The backings appear to be nice quality and a good size. I bought them as replacements for my daughter who has a tendency to lose hers and they fit her earrings.

The only downside to this transaction was that they were shipped from China not an Amazon warehouse so the full lead time was roughly a month. If you aren't in a rush, this may be a good choice.

UPDATE 6/29/2015

After we have had these a while, I would reverse my initial thoughts because the plating was very poor and has all but worn away. The backing a are a little larger than we wanted, but we thought the price would override it. In retrospect, we are disappointed because of the quality and LONG lead time to get them.
