Product Description

In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Nice shoes but...
The sneakers are fine but came with blue ink dots on the sole. If I'd bought them in a regular store would ask for another pair or a good discount. I'm keeping them since they are comfortable but beware of this problem (see picture) of the odd blue dots on the grey part near the blue ribbon on the sole.

I am pleased with these shoes and will buy several pairs. I use them for walking and for general around-the-house activities. They fit perfectly (I am size10 M) and are comfortable. The support is terrific -- way better than any other pair I own -- and my feet, legs, hips, and back all feel better when I wear them. The traction is excellent. The fabric breathes and is cool in hot weather.

An odd thing about these is that the lacing lines up more with the big toe than with the middle of the toes -- this may account for some of the extra comfort when walking.

My wife says they look great -- so I can wear them around more often! I highly recommend these shoes.

I bought this shoe to replace a previous Asics Gel walking shoe. I've only been wearing the new shoe for a couple weeks so it's too early to give it a complete rating. However, the fit is very good, the construction is excellent, and it has been comfortable to wear. I got several years good wear out of the previous shoe which I bought after seeing it recommended by Consumer Reports. I believe I can expect similar wear out of the new shoe.

I rotate this shoe with a pair of 'Drews' for diabetics. I purchased the ASICS as a reviewer raved about the roomy fit. I'm 6'8" 390. Its not roomy to me but snug and comfortable.

The toe box is firm, as is the heel area. The mid gives a bit with every step I take. Not in a flimsy way but in a supportive platform type feel. I'm confident in these shoes. Some shoes I dont feel that way. I have neuropathy and if I cant feel my feet or my feet slip and slide around in a shoe I fall easily. Not so in these ASICs they feel secure. Good on my 'hammertoe' too.

The only reason I docked them a star is on the outside edges they feel like they give a bit and tilt to the outside. I have a 'normal' foot as for pronation...this is probably due to my weight. If it changes as it comes down I'll post a updated review.

An amazing shoe.

My background: I've been carrying about 120 excess pounds (61 y/o, 5-8, 285 lbs) for too long. I've had success with diets (low carb especially) but have never been able to find a diet to keep the weight off. I love food :)

And so I decided about 2 months ago to start an exercise program. I settled on a 6 day workout, alternating between 40 minutes walking (with 10 pounds in each hand) and 40 minutes with compound dumb bell exercises. It didn't take long for me to realize that my already sore and tired feet were not going to hold up to this work in addition to my daily dog walk of 50 minutes.

I came to Amazon in search of what might be an answer in the form of a walking shoe with high marks for support and cushioning. I found these Asics.

I believe that I have pushed my feet and these shoes to the limit, and the verdict after 30 days is "they are living up to my hope and expectation". There has been some mild to moderate pain on some days, but overall I feel like my feet are healing and not being damaged even though I am putting a lot of distance on them.

I couldn't be happier with a shoe. I will be happy to get 3 months use out of the first pair I ordered before switching to the second pair. I would expect that to increase as my weight decreases. At 180 pounds I would like to get 6 months use before the cushioning is compromised.

Highly recommend this shoe for walking. Superior support and outstanding cushioning.

I was just measured as a D width but I have doubts. Thing is, some D's fits fine, others are a bit tight to really tight. This one is way tight, went back. Would have ordered this shoe in a 2E (wide) if only they made it - some do, many do not. It appears to be a better made shoe than my recent New Balance purchase, and that was $125 (at New Balance store). I rated 3 stars as I feel it's overly narrow (it's a walking shoe, not a high performance type shoe, should be built for comfort), but it seems to be a very well-made shoe.

This is my 4th pair of the ASICS GEL-Tech Walker Neo shoes and I hope they continue making them for years to come! When I bought my first pair at a running shoe store, the clerk, a marathon runner, told me to purchase new shoes every 500 to 800 miles and I've followed his advice ever since. At about 700 miles, the heels on the ASICS are worn and somewhat compressed and starting to look a bit ratty. New shoes solve that problem. Since I find these very light and extremely comfortable and I rely on them to keep my knees and ankles in good shape, I feel that a $70 investment every 10 months or so is well worth the money.

I'm 71 and I try to power walk (12 minute miles) about 6 miles every other day. These shoes make it easy and so does Amazon.

I purchased this shoe based upon the reviews in Consumers Reports. The fit was just right, comfortable and well balanced. The shoes are light and well ventilated. Sturdy man-made materials. The Biomorphic Fit technology, allows the upper to move equally to the foot in the gait cycle, which reduces the friction between the material and the foot, preventing formation of blisters. The asymmetrical lacing design is caused by the corrective sole strcture to overcome moderate foot pronation. Reflective detailing is a plus for walking outdoors in the evening.

I returned these shoes because the flaps that hold the laces were way off center to the inside of the shoe. So the tongue ran across the top of the arch instead of in the middle of my foot. This is the second pair of Asics I have returned for defects, this one to Amazon and another model to the local shoe store.

I love Asics, but these recent experiences make me wonder what has happened to their quality assurance process.
